Keepers of the Way (devotional)You can purchase this devotional here.

This 12-week devotional is designed to guide our thoughts to the ancient beauty of the Way of Jesus as described in Scripture and to reframe our understanding of discipleship to Jesus in contemporary culture.

From the book’s introduction…

“About that time there arose a great disturbance about the Way.”  [Acts 19:23]

Jesus calls Himself “the Way” and calls to us, “Follow me.”

But in our “modern day” it can seem this call is drowned out in the din of competing voices, or twisted by half-truths, or simply forgotten by once faithful followers. Is this call, this Way, still relevant?  And what does keeping to it look like today?

Though it is often rejected, maligned, or misunderstood, the Way of Jesus is perfectly relevant today. Though we humans have learned so much and advanced so incredibly, we are, each of us, not so different from our predecessors. We still ask the same questions, hunger for the same meaning, make the same tragic mistakes. But the way of God is perfect, so it needn’t change and it should be sought. Not everything that’s old is outdated or obsolete. Not all innovations are improvements.

Keeping to the Way means joining the resistance by signing up to be a person of self-discipline and self-control, fleeing temptation, and choosing to develop in character.

It means fueling the rebellion against this world and its ways by refusing to conform, subverting godless philosophies, and escaping society’s gravitational pull.

It means advancing the revolution of Christ’s cross by spreading His good news,  righting injustices, and filling this world with love and truth.
