I’ll never forget one particular summer evening. While Elijah had some student ministry activities and Renee had a meeting at work, my eight year-old daughter Hope and I brought a frisbee and a ball and bat and played on the hill east of our church building. We played, rolled down the grassy slope; we had a blast. Lots of laughter.
“Daddy,” she observed, “playing here next to God’s house is just like worshiping Him, but different. It’s like we’re playing in His yard and He’s our Dad.”
“Do you think it makes God smile to see you and me having fun together?” I asked her.
“Yeah, I bet it does.”
Their trust should be in God, who richly gives us all we need for our enjoyment.
